Exclamation 1999 2.7 Liter Engine Stops Running while Driving! HELP HELP HELP!!!!!

Help!
My 1999 Dodge Intrepid dies - the engine completely stops running while driving!

1. I have power to the starter (Battery is good); lights on; remote start good
2. The Starter works (Wants to turn over)
3. Spark plugs were replaced last year (Good plugs)
4. I'm at 96K miles

I replaced the oil sensor 3 weeks ago, from other advice in the forum, now my oil light has extinguished = GOOD

The Check Engine light is on, and (embarrasing) has been for a number of years.

The only Code I get is P301.

Could it be the Fuel pump? The intake or exhaust lines? Or maybe the oil pump?

Exclamation Advanced Auto's Diagnostics

Thanks - went to advanced auto, code p301 came up with all this:

1. Ignition system fault-spark plugs, coil, ignition wires
2. Vaacuum Leak
3. Injector Fault
4. High or Low fuel pressure

Which and how many vacuum lines are there?

I believe 301 is a #1 cyl misfire only and I don't think it's the fuel pump. It may be an injector, plug or wire but if you don't have a p300 (multi cyl misfire) I don't think that's you main issue with the engine not running.

Default Crank position sensor

Does the car start back up after a few minutes?
If so I know what it is.

It's either Crank Position Sensor or Camshaft Sensor

Easy Fix.

Everything should run Get both Sensors online and pay a mechanic
to throw them in. $150.00 Total (I paid)

Perform a vacuum test with a gauge
perform fuel pressure test
perform a compression test

That's a great suggestion, is there a way to test one, or get to them?

I replaced the small vacuum hose between the PCV valve and connector- and reset the battery - no code for two days, it hasn't died yet, BUT the check engine light came on today! Bummer!

Not that I know of, it's always best to replace them both anyway, Intrepids are known for bad sensors. Once I changed mine they care has been running good. However, I'm having a new problem, sometime the car starts sometime I hear a clicking noise. It's not the starter cause that's new...Oh well.....

Kshep90407- I TOTALLY agree abour the sensors, once, while I had this car in Italy, no ****, the transmission was jerky and not shifting-it was BAD. I thought I was out 3k for a new transmission and being in europe-not an easy task dealing with Europeans (no offense) - it ended up being two sensors, less than 40.00, and I was back in business crusing the Itialian Piazza's and cobblestone roads!

Now it runs, hasn't died after replacing the vaccum hose to the PVC; Check Engine Light is on - disconnecting battery - I've tried this several times, it keeps coming back. Although its just over 97K miles, what else could cause the check engine light? She runs ok, just always had the light- any ideas?
