Hey. I am looking to get a suspension lift for my 2wd '95 1500 ram. I know very little when it comes to lifts kits or anything regarding working on my truck. It is stock at the moment and I have only done things to the exhaust, as well as a few other minor additions.

If anybody knows any good suspension kits I could look into I'd really appreciate it. I am also going for the flared fender (trophy truck) look, if anybody knows anything about that as well. Also, I'd like the front to sit maybe a LITTLE higher than the back.

Again any ideas / details / info is greatly appreciated. thanks

 

are you looking to level it? or lift it? because its a 2wd. id advise agains lifting a 2wd. now if your lookin to level it, thats a nother thing

 

yea lifts are not meant to be on 2wd but i mean doesnt mean u cant. just if ur gonna lift it, i imagine ur wantin bigger tires? and on a 2wd thats alot of weight for those gears and axles to turn. its totally up to you. you can get a 3" body lift, or u could just do a coil spacers on the front and a add-a-leaf on the back to get like 2-3" out of it.

 

like he said, if your gonna do it you might wanna upgrade to like 4:11's. depends on what size tires you plan to run

 

Ok here is what I did, I lifted my truck 2.5 in the front with new springs, and the rear 1.75 with new shackles, it sits almost exactly an inch higher in the back than the front which in turn makes the truck look perfectly level.

Now my suggestion to you if your looking for the front to look higher and have that cali lean going on, go with either a spacer from daystar or with lift springs depending on how much sag you have now it would be smarter to go with the coils. If you go with 2.5 over stock you can keep the rest stock minus the shocks once you hit 3 inches you need to get some upper control arms, or you can pick up some 3inch lift spindles and keep your stock geometry. Problem with upgrading spindles is that you need different rims

My mechanic had no problems with my alignment with my coils and right now im still riding on stock shocks, Im running 285/75/16 Definity dakota M/t's with no rub at all and I think they look good on the truck, I did upgrade rims but they still have the factory 5in bs but are 8in wide vs 7in so they stick out an inch farther than stock.

I installed my lift myself and was really easy, if you can change your brakes most likely you can accomplish the front end with ease and if your a little bit worried pick up a haynes manual and call it a day.

If you want to lift it higher look around I think fabtech makes a kit and just found out rancho makes a 4inch kit but I think its a little too much money and work for it, do a search because someone just installed it on here maybe a week ago

 

My Expedition has a "lift", is 2WD, and it would fly on by anyone here off road..

OP, as far as 2WD check out AIM industries.(If you can even find them anymore) They had a midtravel front kit for our Rams. It was uppers and lowers, not sure what spindle it used.
Whatever you do don't do spacers. If you are on a budget and just want look but not functionality, go with Doetsch lift spindles. They are in the shop down the street from me and they make good stuff. Pretty good prices also.
Don't let these 4wd fanboys ride your nuts, most of em' have no idea what a properly equipped truck with longtravel can do!

Oh, and if you want Fiberglass Check out Glassworks unlimited for their glass. They make a 3" flare set of fenders that would go perfectly with the doetsch spindles.

 

ha u just cant let it go can you Big Red? its ok. i let you have ur time to shine. im sure u could fly on by, but only when were going across the desert, now put ur 2wd in a mud pit then lets see. thats what 99% of us here do, so yea, u have ur style we have ours, dont hate.

 

I'm not hating on anyone. This thread is about a 2WD truck, You started it. GTFover it. I've had plenty of fun in the mud. Here's some high suction dezert mud. About a billion% glay, its like clue. I flew right on through with my bald procomp's. There's something about hitting mud at 60mph that makes it so awesome!



I've got a great picture of my friend mobbin his 2WD Taco on Jeep trails. His solution for no 4WD? Just go faster! Life's nice when you have over 2 feet of wheel travel.

I build trucks for a living. 2WD, 4WD, even the occasional 6wd setup. All have their strengths and weaknesses. However 4WD is useless at speed, and it's just so satisfying seeing a "lowly" 2WD vehicle blast by a 4x4 redneckwagon.

 

And for the record, I don't dislike 4WD trucks at all. Before my Expy, my project was an 86 Bronkydonks. 35's on a bone stock truck, wish my Ram could do that!
