Hey Guys, has anyone ever bought these from Summit?

I'm starting to get the death wobble when hitting bumps. I figured instead of replacing the track bar, why not just replace the bushings. What do you guys recommend?

 

Have a look at your track bar, have someone else sitting in the drivers seat, and crank the wheel back and forth. Where is the slop? Bushing end? Sure, you can just replace the bushings. "joint" end? No rebuilding that, time for a new one. Considering that you have to pull the bar to change the bushings...... Might just as well toss in a new one. Granted, it does cost more....

 

Gotcha, going to have to give that a try. Pretty much all of the bushings in my front end need to be replaced. So I am putting together an order. Hopefully its just the bushing, I don't feel like spending $120 for a new track bar and then another $100 for an alignment. Would a bad track bar cause front end vibration around 60 mph? I believe I read a post on here that said it may.

 

Yeah just read a few threads and they say it can. Could also be the fact that all the other bushings are getting worn out. Fun Fun! Thanks for the help HeyYou

If you haven't had an alignment for a while... it may not hurt ya any to get one. Before going though, might wanna look at ball joints, tie rod ends, and other assorted steering components as well. (A good time to have a gander is while you have your victim/helper in the drivers seat.)

 

This is true. I was checking every thing out down there this weekend while I was doing my oil change. But I didn't have anyone to turn the wheel so I could look at every thing.

 

Replacing the track bar does not require getting an alignment.

 

I don't know if this will help you out or not. But this is where I bought all my front in parts that I needed. I know they might not be the cheapest. But the MOOG- Ball Joints and Tierod Ends are definitely superior to the cheaper aftermarkets sold in the parts store.

You don't want to replace the "bushing end" on your track bar unless you replace it with a OEM type bushing that mnust be pressed in by a shop or someone with the correct press.
Several people on here have tried the aftermarket urethane replacements and they don't last at all.
Rockauto sells the correct bushing, so you should be able to find it locally.

 

Gotcha. I may just replace the entire bar if any thing is bad on it.
