Default How can I reset the check engine light?

2000 Dodge Intrepid ES, 3.2 - had P0302 code, changed out the wire/ignition coil/spark plug & things are back to normal - now how do I set the check engine light? Since the battery is in such a difficult location, don't want to go that route if I don't have to...

I've tried this several times, it keeps coming back. Although its just over 97K miles, what else could cause the check engine light? She runs ok, just always had the light- any ideas?

Just removing the negative cable to clear codes might lead to other problems. Yes, the code will clear but if there is a real issue with the car the light will just come back on. Anoher issue with removing the negative cable is that there is some risk of losing stored data, ex. Transmission. Requiring a "Flash" to operate. I found out the hard way on an 2002.

huh? how would you expect to install a new battery without disconnecting, or what if your battery goes dead and you jump start. I've never needed any kind of "flash" after replacing, disconnection or recharging any battery. :?

it sure looks like you were VERY specific to answering this exact post with removing neg cable and then needing to flash computers just like the problem you had with a 2002.

so please explain the exact problem you had with your 2002 and how that related to the battery problem? I'd like to learn about this scenario to improve my knowledge
