95 dodge ram O2 sensor
When im driving down the road and hit about 2500 rpms the check engine light comes on. It's an automatic by the way. Could this be because of an oxygen sensor cause i have been told the truck has a bad one. Also, does a bad O2 sensor cause mpg to worsen?
thanks,
Jeremy

A failed oxygen sensor most often doesn't cause a code to be thrown until some time after the owner has discovered it.
While a failed oxygen sensor will cause poor fuel economy, rough idle, and an annoying sucking sound (first through the intake, then through your wallet), it's not common for them to punk out at 2500RPM in the early part of the normal end of life failure. They tend to show more symptoms and idle, and to get happier with higher RPM.
