Any tips to eliminate brake drum squeal? I replaced the front pads and rotors a few weeks back but the squeal persists. I hope to not have to replace them yet, as the shoes look to have plenty of life to them.
If you used ceramic they may never stop making noice, as I found in my caravan. the brake pads were ceramic, should have replaced the disc, drums as well.
yeah i found that i mean i checked my rear pads las time i was home and they still have plenty of life on them! i've gotalmost probably 50K if not more on them and they are still fine! so just check em and if the rears are low that could be the noise your hearing!
My rear drums squeaked when I first picked my truck up from the dealership, they quieted down in a couple of days though. How long have they been squeaking?
No I haven't adjusted or lubed. Never had to adjust drum brakes beyond turning the fine adjustment wheel from the back. I'll check out some how-to's but do you have any pointers? Do i take it apart to lube or just do it with the springs and hinges in place?
Do I really adjust it so there is enough tension that the wheel stops after 1 turn while the truck is lifted? Seems like a lot of wasted energy having the brakes applied all the time.
how do you get to the adjusting screw to adjust them manually if backing up isn't working anymore ? I cant fit much inside the small space nor can i see what im tryin to adjust any hints ?
