Default Engine hesitates, stumbles, pops on acceleration

Ok, 2001 Ram 1500 5.9 liter 105k miles. It idles fine, I can coast at speed just fine it only happens when I'm accelerating. Engine stumbles so bad it shakes my whole truck. Press the accelerator to the floor and it pops a few times, but it still stumbles. I get above 60 and it acts fine. Seems like I'm down on power alot when accelerating though.

I've been reading these forums for days, found some good info but nothing exactly like my problem. Any help would be great before I drop some money on a mechanic to look at it.

The first thing I'd check is fuel pressure. You can either buy a gauge to check on the fuel rail, or take it to the mechanic to check. Had that same problem & symptoms with my last ram when the pump started going south.

I just went through this with my 05 ram. Seems real similar to what mine was doing. Check your U joints. My rear one was bad and caused the similar problems. Caught mine early before i lost my driveshaft.

Unscrew the pre cat o2 sensor and take it for a quick ride and see if anything changes. And check the codes. Even if there is no CEL.

Sounds like what was wrong with my 99. I changed the #1 oxygen sensor and it has run perfect every since. If you have a decent scan tool, you can do a scan of all your sensors at first start up. When cold it showed the sensor as not working but after the O2 sensor heats up it fools the computer into thinking it is working and doesn't throw an engine light. The auto parts guy told me that dodges are horrible for becoming undrivable because of O2 sensors being bad. Hope this helps.

Default Have the same problem

94 Ram 1500, 318 (5.2) only mine runs fine in the begining, but as it warms up it does the same missing, coughing, put the pedal down and it just bogs down. It also seems to do it more when it's in overdrive.

Already changed the plugs, didn't fix nothing. U joints are good. How do you get the O2 Sensor off. I don't have scan tool. I found a wire broken that goes through the firewall directly above the distributor cap, it goes to a canister on the drivers side beneath the front of the battery.

gizmo under the battery is cruise control.

unplug o2 sensor connection on top of the trans. you might have to cut the plastic anchor in order to get ahold of the plug. then unscrew sensor with big wrench. be gentle with o2.

i'd check fuel pressure.
