Not a big help I know but may at least get you started. From the FSM:
RED BRAKE WARNING LAMP
DESCRIPTION
The red BRAKE warning lamp is located in the
instrument panel cluster and is used to indicate a low
brake fluid condition or that the parking brake is
applied. In addition, the brake warning lamp is turned
on as a bulb check by the ignition switch every time
the ignition switch is placed in the crank position.
OPERATION
The red BRAKE warning lamp is supplied a
12-volt ignition feed anytime the ignition switch is
on. The bulb is then illuminated by completing the
ground circuit either through the switch on the parking
brake lever, the brake fluid level switch in the
master cylinder reservoir, or the ignition switch when
it is placed in the crank position.
RED BRAKE WARNING LAMP
POSSIBLE CAUSES & CORRECTION
RED BRAKE WARNING LAMP ON
1. Parking brake lever not fully released.
FIX 1. Release parking brake lever.
2. Parking brake warning lamp switch on parking brake lever.
FIX 2. Inspect and replace switch as necessary.
3. Brake fluid level low in reservoir.
FIX 3. Fill reservoir. Check entire system for leaks. Repair or replace as required.
4. Brake fluid level switch.
FIX 4. Disconnect switch wiring connector. If lamp goes out, replace switch.
5. Mechanical instrument cluster (MIC) problem.
FIX 5. Refer to Chassis Diagnostic Procedures manual.

Have a 00 grand caravan does the same thing when the fluid gets low because the break pads are about wore out. Might want to check the pads instead of adding fluid if low and not leaking fluid. When u change the pads and press the calipers back the fluid level will be ok in your master cylinder if like mine. Hope this helps...
