Cruise Control 2002 Caravan
Need a little help here on an issue that is driving me crazy. Have a 2002 Caravan and the cruise will not work. When I turn on the cruise the light iluminates for a split second then goes off.
Any one ever experience this problem or have an ideas?
Here is what I have done so far.
Changed servo with know working unit
changed brake switch
checked all vaccum lines
Checked all the wiring harness as I have a code 1595 (Speed control vacuum or vent solenoid control circuits shorted or lost)
relay swapped
I do not think it is the clock spring as everything else is working but will try swapping clock springs with a used one I have that is in working condition.
Anyone with any thoughts? All are apreciated.

Symptom List:
P1595-SPEED CONTROL SOLENOID CIRCUITS
P1683-SPD CTRL PWR RELAY; OR S/C 12V DRIVER CKT
Test Note: All symptoms listed above are diagnosed using the same tests.
The title for the tests will be P1595-SPEED CONTROL SOLENOID
CIRCUITS.
When Monitored and Set Condition:
P1595-SPEED CONTROL SOLENOID CIRCUITS
When Monitored: With the ignition on. Battery voltage greater than 10 volts. Speed
Control Switched on.
Set Condition: The Powertrain Control Module actuates the vacuum and vent solenoids
but they do not respond.
P1683-SPD CTRL PWR RELAY; OR S/C 12V DRIVER CKT
When Monitored: With the ignition key on. The speed control switched on.
Set Condition: The speed control power supply circuit is either open or shorted to ground.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
GROUND CIRCUIT OPEN
INTERMITTENT CONDITION
S/C BRAKE SWITCH OUTPUT CIRCUIT
SPEED CONTROL SWITCH OUTPUT OPEN
BRAKE LAMP SWITCH
SPEED CONTROL POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT
PCM (S/C POWER SUPPLY)
SPEED CONTROL VACUUM SOLENOID
SPEED CONTROL VACUUM SOLENOID CONTROL CIRCUIT OPEN

UPDATE: Well it is not the clockspring but I knew it wasn't. Cleaned every connection in the vehicle and in the engine compartment. Only thing left is a short or break in the wiring harness, the PCM, or control switches on the wheel.
One thing I never noticed before. When I have the brake pedal pressed and activate the cruise control, the light stays on and I can switch it on and off. Once I release the pedal the system fails and will not reactivate unless the key is turned off and then back on.
This thing is driving me nuts.

I went through a long drawn out affair this spring with our 2001. I did most of the things you did including the brake switch, servo, left hand switch on the column and finally, the ECM. Each time I tried something, I had myself convinced that that particular part was the problem. In my case, the light was always on and nothing I tried would make it go off but the system never worked either.
This was undoubtedly not related but it started working after I changed the fluid and filter in the transmission.
Go figure.
