Default Transmission Conversion - Auto To Manual

OK, here's the deal. I have an 84 D150 with the 318 V8, 3-Speed Auto, and an Edelbrock Carburetor (600 c.f.m.) and Intake Manifold. I want to replace the transmission with a racing manual transmission, preferrable a 5- or 6-Speed with a racing clutch and a Hurst Shifter. Which is the best kind of transmission and clutch to get and where can I get them? Also, how hard it it to set up a clutch pedal and the linkage?

I would go with a TCI they make very strong transmissions and clutches, i dont know how hard it is to convert an automatic to a stick, but i know it can be done, my truck used to be a V-6 with a 3 speed auto and now it is a 360 with a 4 speed manual... If you want i can take as many pictures of the set up as i can and send them to you.

Not to thread jack....but can you(Dodge4Life) send me some pics as for how you did the pedal swap, transmission swap, master cylinder, and what transmission do you have? I have a shot 3speed auto(A999) and would love a 4 spd manual or even a NP535 5-spd from a dakota. Ps I have the 318. joschmo86@hotmail.com

If your pockets are deep enough, talk to the guys at Keisler Engineering. They canhook you up with aTremec 5 or 6 spd and related parts. If not, look for a 5spd out of a Dakota or Ram, although first gearcan belittle low.Get aboneyard pedal setup, if you prefer or need a hyd. clutch, Keisler has a setup for this also that could be adapted to the stock pedal. The factory shifter location in a pickupis the same as a B-body carwith an 833 4spd. [Uses the forward mnt.]Had an 833 with a RoadRunner PistolGrip in mine until I broke the bellhousing. Also note that the factory manual pickups have a different trans tunnel, which may or may not cause fitment issues, depending on the trans used.

Default automatic to manual swap 97 ram

I've been searching the net for information on swapping from a automatic to a manual trans in 94-2000 Dodge Ram 1500 trucks and haven't been able to find nothing. I am amazed honestly. With a good many of the problems this gen of trucks have with automatics that there isn't more info out there on this. I want to change my auto trans in my 97 Dodge Ram 1500 2wd for a 5 speed manual. I found one out of a 94 1500 2wd with a V6 but don't know if it will fit. I already have some of the components needed for the swap. I've got the clutch pedal brake pedal assembly which looks easy to swap. So if anyone knows if there is a 5 speed manual that will fit my truck let me know. Thanks.
