Default Ram 2008 egr replacement...

Hello everyone,

Today i went to the dealer to get back my Ram 08. I left it there on Monday to have the EGR replace, driver door adjusted and driver seat repair.

After 2 miles engine stop at a red light, Start the truck again and pull it on the side of the road to check the EGR (EGR is brand new) I close the hood and put in drive...now the tranny is slippering... Stop the truck, put it in Park...put it back on drive...now it's stuck in first gear...so i drove it back up to the dealer in first gear...

After a road test with the man who did the repair at the dealer everything is fine...

All they can say is to let it warm up 10 to 15 minutes before putting it in drive (Today tempeture was 0 C or 32 F . Before i left the dealer the 1st time i had to clean the 3 inchs of snow on it (So it did warm up a good five minutes but that is not enough for a HEMI...!!!)

So how long do you let your engine and tranny warm up when it's really cold outside?

I wait for the idle to drop (at start, it's about 1300 RPM) to under 1k, then go. That doesn't long.... maybe a minute or so?

I never had to warm up a car more then a few minutes even when it was -30 C outside.

Anyway i left the Ram to the dealer to fix the rough idle by having them replacing the EGR and come out with a tranny issue...

I had before a Dodge Colt 94, Stratus 98, Grand Caravan 02 without any issues but i think this will be my last Dodge since i don't fell confident with it.

Now it's getting worst...

No 1st gear and no overdrive (3000 rpm at 65 mph) + engine stop at red light...

I'll have to visit the dealer again next week

better to start the truck and after about 10 seconds start driving, not hard just normal easy driving, the oil warms up faster there for less wear and tear on the engine... it takes allot longer idling to warm the oil and everything up then when your cruising down the road... especially the tranny no heat produced sitting in park.

Finally another Dodge found the Problem... The tranny oil filter felt into the oil pan causing all these troubles

A bit hard to explain for me cause i speak french and my english is not excellent but the pressure lost in the tranny made the engine die at idle when cold!!!
