Reseting ABS light

Reseting ABS light
My ABS light came on. I had it checked and was told it was the right rear bearing hub. Not having the $300 to pay the shop for the repair I searched out the part and got it for $230 less than what they were saying it would cost. after replacing the bearing The ABS Light will still not go off. They want another $50 to reset it. is there a procedure for resetting it that I can do that does not involve paying someone each time I replace something?

did you pull off both cables?
once you pull em off try clamping them together for cpl mins.
put a rag across top of battery to prevent cables from touching posts as they will want to go back to their original positions
OR as Jumpdrive has posted the problem still exists

Did your hub assembly come with a new wheel speed sensor? It's the 3 foot wire that comes out the rear of the hub. If not, then you still have a problem because it is the sensor that fails, the hub just has the tone wheel in it. Never seen one of those go bad. When you repair the cause of the code, the light will go out on it's own. It only illuminates for active codes. There will be a stored code in the ABS module but the lamp will go out.

I have same problem as Travisg96. I have replaced the hub assembly and the wheel speed sensor (wiring). ABS light is still on. My code was also is right rear sensor. Also disconnected battery for about 10 minutes to reset but this did not work. My ABS light stayed on before I moved the van.
Very frustrated. Any ideas????

If the problem was fixed, the light woiuld go off. Airbag modules operate the same way.

Resetting ABS light
Here is a method that works on our 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan. Start vehicle, put foot on brake and do not remove. Back the van up while turning the steering wheel all the way to the right. Keeping your foot on the brake put the vehicle in drive and pull forward while straightening the wheel. Obviously you will have to ease up on the brake a bit to move forward, just dont take your foot off, the brake lights must be on. Once you are driving straight take your foot off the brake, turn and brake again. Parking lot works well for this, back out of your parking spot, turn the wheel to go straight, go forward. Sounds dumb but it works on ours which has a phantom ABS light with no codes set.
