Default Stratus AC Compressor

Hi,
i am from Germany and i have a "Chrysler" Stratus (in germany they dont sell Dodge) 2.0 16 V year 95 129 HP.
Now my AC Compressor is broken and it would cost me 800 euros (about 1000 Dollars) to fix it, but i
dont want to spend so much money on it anymore (had already a lot of probs). My question is:
Can i put another Drive-Belt on it (shorter) or does exist an shorter Drive belt?
Thanks for your help.

hello, and welcome to the site!

do you know if under the hood there is a belt routing chart? a small picture showing what the belt looks like with and without AC? I am not sure whether or not the non-AC strati have a shorter belt, or if there is a delete pulley there. if you have that aforementioned decal, it will show you.

let me know.

ok..i have made a crude drawing of what the two options may be...they may still use the idler pulley and run from the alt to the crank pulley *shown in red*, or it may bypass the idler pulley altogether *shown in blue*. the third, but more unlikely option is that there is a dummy pulley that goes where the AC compressor is, but i would doubt that..sorry that my drawing is so crude.

your best bet is to call a local dodge dealership and tell them what you drive...ask them what the routing is for the car with no AC. either way they should be able to tell you what belt you need in order to do away with the AC assembly.
