Nothing, apparently Chrysler didn't fill the 11's all the way, or at all by the sounds of it, so they are bringing them back in to fill them up. Sounds like a Friday build to me!

The fill hole on the differentials is apparently too low not allowing for a proper fill. The additional fluid gets added via the vent tube fitting. Fill to the bottom of the fill hole as previously done in the past, then remove the vent tube, and add and additional 19oz of fluid and 1oz of slip additive.

Your are correct! The cost of the current solution is the cost of a quart of differential lube and 1oz of limited slip additive. To replace the cover would cost 86 oz of lube and 4 oz slip additive and a new cover. Over $100 vs $15 x 57,000 trucks. With labor the cost difference is probably close to $12 million. I will probably add a new bung on top of the cover at change time and simply fill with the recommend amounts of fluid including the additional 19/1oz combo in the RRT.

I heard they put the lube "fill plug" in the front side of the case`s now, and they accidently tapped the "fill hole" to low in the case`s and its not allowing enough lube to be at the right levels. The lube apperently isnt getting to the bearings good enough. I also heard dodge isnt sending out the notices to everyone until february...??? If thats true, thats a HUGE mistake on their part... i smell buy backs and lawsuits in the future due to the fact that they are saying that if the rearend seizes up and can cause an accident. Engineering at its best....dodge gets a BIG DUHHHHHHHHHHHHHH for this mistake...!!!!
Anyone know this to be true or not....?????

Whoa - I'm glad this came out now. I was going to buy a 2011 Laramie next week. They'll have to get this fixed properly, I could just see an oil change shop taking the fill plug out to check the lube and thinking it was overfilled let it level out and put the plug back - it's gonna happen eventually. I'm going to go measure the height of the plug and watch the new ones for a while to get one set up properly. For 50K there should not be issues like this.
