2003 Grand Caravan speedometer problem. Sometimes when starting my engine 3.3 engine, my speedometer go completely clock-wise 360 degrees until it hid the stop peg. Sometime it gets stuck in that position; what can cause this problem?
You can try what vangonebuy said, and if that doesn't work, try removing the iod fuse for 5 mins and push back in. If still have problems then get the van to the dealer, you could have problem with circuit board.
The dealer wants to remove my speedometer and send it out to be repaired and charge me over a $1000 dollars [I will be out of my van for a long time]. I don’t think this is right.

I had this problem on a 2001 caravan 3.3 ltr engine. The problem was the 12 volt battery shorting internally. Replacing the battery cured this and other gauge problems, but I had to remove safety shield from front of gauges and manually return speedo needle to start position.
Hope this info is helpful to you. The car doctor.
Did you check out the speed sensor, which is located on the transmission. My sensor was loose and the speedometer was bouncing between 0 and 65 and back. My mechanic put plugged in the SNAP-ON diagnostic computer which indicated the problem. Have you checked it out with computer?
Since the speedometer problem has been an old, could you help me with mine? My 2003 Dodge Caravan power lock on the rear hatch keeps on trying to open and close. When it does this, my interior light and instrument cluster indicator lights up. It does this periodically within my garage. Seems like someone is inside the vehicle, opening and closing the power locks. Ghostly!!! The dealer's mechanic suggests that there may be some corroded or bad contact with the lift gate ajar switch. This has happened ever since the weather dipped to -40 below. Do you think I need a new part or try taking the interior panel off and clean up the switch?
