The truck won't move. On it's last drive, the transmission had trouble "catching". In an effort to get it home I would shift into reverse and then drive again and get it to move again. Now it appears to be done moving. I have dropped the pan and saw no real debris to speak of. I tried changing the fluid and filters thinking maybe I would have some luck. I went through the process of making sure the fluid was full, checking it in neutral etc. Nothing. The truck still does not want to move. I opened the cooling line while it was running and no fluid came out. I then dropped the pan again to find that the transmission fluid never moved through the transmission. The little fluid left in the transmission was older fluid not the new pink fluid. Any thoughts on the possibility of repairing instead of replacing or rebuilding this transmission? Where do I start?
Doesn't sound good. I'm no transmission expert, but i would try removing both lines and making sure the check valve isn't clogged before you go too much further.
I separated the lines at the check valve and there appeared to be no restrictions. I started the truck with the line open but no fluid went through it.
Unplug the 8 pin connector on the drivers side of the trans, does your truck move now? (don't expect automatic shifts, you will have to select your gears manually, if it works at all.)
I guess I am going have to attempt the rebuild. Do you have a great source for a step by step manual? I have some info I have found in other threads, but am looking for clear and concise instructions.
Look in the FAQ section, for a thread by J415, he has links to some good DIY's for trans rebuilding, complete with step by step instructions, and pics.
