I have a 2001 durango with over 130000 i went 4 wheeling in the snow a week later i had a vibration in the front end. I noticed that the caliper bolts came loose tightened them up. Vibration wasnt has bad but was still there. I have replaced the following calipers, brakes, hub with bearings and the cv axle but kept the shaft that comes out of the t case that attaches into the axle part. After replacing all of this still have the vibration. My question is I think my next part to replace to get the vibration gone would be the shaft the only problem I am having is finding a place that sells this part. Does anyone have any suggestions on where i maybe able to get one. thx

 

What kind of vibration are you experiencing? (Low rummble or fast) Does it change with speed? I'm guessing all what's left is rotors if you haven't replaced those yet, maybe a bent rim, possibly bearings in your front diff.

 

It really sounds to me like a bent/warped rotor. Have them checked at a brake place and have them planed if they're not flat.

Do this test go about 30 miles an hour down an abandon parking lot at night or down a country road and hit the brakes hard. Not hard enough to lock up but hard enough to stop quickly. Did the vibration just get worse or was it about the same?

If you find yourself answering it got worse, likely a bent rotor.

 

When you do what widow suggests, also feel your brake pedal when you push it for any feedback, if it pulses or kicks back at you then deffinatly time for new rotors or have them turned.

That's insane that your caliper bolts came loose, never heard of that one before in all the off roading I do haha

 

What about the tires? If you hit something hard enough to loosen caliper bolts (not sure that's even possible), you definitely could have damaged a tire... Or rim.

 

Check the inside of the rim for mud packed in and that will throw you out of balance.

 

Ok little more info the vibration is like a rumble it begins at around 30 mph then you stop feeling it around 55-65 mph. It only happens when you accelerate. As soon as you take your foot of the gas it stops. That's why i thought it was my axels. I havent looked at my rotors yet. Could it be the rack and pinion? Or am i looking more into the Transfer CAse?

 

If it only happens when you accelerate I'd focus on the drivetrain then.

Check your u-joints for sure too.

 

but the vibrations only happen in the front end I dont feel it in the rearend....

 

The front drive shaft has u joints as well. Drivetrain meaning from the engine to the wheels including your transfer case and front diff.

Would you happen to know what model transfer case you have? In 2001 they switched it all up to eletronic shift and I believe stopped offering 2wd on AWD cases or something.
