hey guys, sorry for making a new thread but i did search and really couldnt find my problem

First off my car is in limp mode. I replaced alot of things but still is not running correct. I purchased a used PCM off ebay to try to see if that was my problem. I have a black key so i don't need to flash the computer. I hooker everything up, turned key to on. I got a loud whine coming from engine bay, cranked car, it reved high then stalled out. The code p0743 flashed after i did the key dance.

Now i think its the solenoid, but i looked for the connector and couldnt find it. I know it a orange/black and another color wire.

Do i need to pull trans and look around in there you think, please help guys

 

Need to find out if there is still a torque converter solenoid above the valve body...

 

im sorry but not to familiar with this cars setup. where is the valve body and where is the solenoid and what does it look like

 

Im pretty sure this is the 3 speed auto tranny so theres no pack on top of the tranny. So i take it, that to fix the sensor i need to take pan off tranny.

 

You have a 2002 right? That's a 4 speed; first year of 'em. Also the one with the most problems. That solenoid would be under the valve body which is under the transmission filter (the valve body is what the filter "connects" to) under the pan. You should download the '00-'02 FSM in my signature and go through the transmission section to see if that sensor is there.

 

ok cool thxs for clearing that up for me. Im lookin now for the FSM on ur signature. so pretty much what ur saying is im going have to take the pan off again, drain all the fluid and do some searching.

 

What year is your car?

if it's a 2002, you can only have a 4 speed overdrive automatic. Which doesn't have a torque converter solenoid inside the transmission.

 

yea mine is an 02. I tried looking up to find out where the TC is but no luck.

So ur saying the solenoid isnt inside the tranny, so its on the outside?

 

If in deed you have the overdrive transmission, there is no TCC solenoid per se. The overdrive transmissions have a solenoid pack with 4 solenoids. one solenoid does low/reverse clutch and also torque converter clutch. In the valve body there is a solenoid shift valve. when the trans shifts out of 1st gear, the valve moves allowing the same solenoid to operate the converter clutch.

Here's what is wierd about you. First 2002 Neons only show to have come with the overdrive transmission for an automatic. 2nd there is no code listing of P0743 for 2002+. So something is wrong with this whole senario.

How about you post a picture of your engine compartment and top of your transmission? Also what is the 10th digit of your VIN?

 

If the 4 speeds use the solenoid pack instead of the "old" TC solenoid, then it is odd.
