Default 2003 3.3l Start up idle issue

Hi guys, my 03 Caravan 3.3l has resently started to act up a bit. When the engine is started cold it normally revs up to 1500 to 2000 rpm then slowly comes down to 900 or so, holds there for a bit then down to arround 700.

My problem now is that it dose not come down slowly any more. At start up it revs up too 1500 to 2000 then drops imediatley to 500 then jumps back up, then drops back down. up, down it dose this for about 5 seconds then smooths right out. I have no service light on and i plugged in the obdII to check anyway but it shows no codes.

Tough to say when it only lasts a few seconds. Possibly a poor connection at a sensor or module meaning a single contact within a connector could be slightly misaligned or be corroded. Normal power surges at startup may overcome this as the engine stabilizes. O2 sensors are out of the loop till they warm up after a minute or so. Engine Temp Sensor (ECT), Throttle Position Sensor (TPS), Idle Air Control (IAC) valve, Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve, Inlet Air Temp (IAT) sensor, cam and crank sensors, Powertrain Control Module (PCM) etc are. Could be first indications of small a vacuum leak. That's all just a wild wag at best. I would just keep an eye on it for now.

I think this is the first time in my life I wish I had the service light on.

Been doin it for a couple weeks now, dosent seem to be getting any worse so Ill live with it for now.

Hard to complain, this is the first hiccup from her Ive had so far, 372,000km (231000miles)

I love my Caravans.

I also have an 03 Caravan that is acting something like that. The code I have on mine is p1496 5 volt supply, voltage to low. The Powertrain Controll Module (PCM) provides a 4.8 to 5.1 reference voltage so I am wondering if this is the only 5 volt supply system in the Caravan

I have no code. Its been a few months now, still revs up and down on start up about 50% of the time. The other 50% its fine. No idea even where to start to look.

Well she's up to 392000km and still acting funny on start up. It is only doing this about 1 in every 5 starts and dose not seem to care if it is warm or cold starting. Not weather related, acts the same in any weather condition.

About ready to give up looking for a solution for this issue.
