I've got a 99 4x4 auto as well. I have a similar problem, although i've isolated it to when i drive over 50 on the speedometer (not sure actual speed cause of tires) but its when I hit my 4th gear over drive.... after being in over drive, i accelerate like a SLOTH off the line. I feel like I have to put the pedal through the floor to make it move.

The next bit of weirdness will throw you for a loop. Try shifting your gear to first gear off the line. It will accelerate like normal, then pop it into 2nd gear, then to drive. When you take it manually into first, if its the same issue mine has, it will actually shift down. The truck's transmission has gone retarded and will not shift all they way back down to 1st gear after being in over drive. I took it to a friend of a friend's shop and he hooked it up to their computer and said that some 'governor pressure sensor plate' (or something to that effect) was too high. Can anybody confirm this?

The other thing that is similar, as soon as I turn the truck off and back on, she's good to run like normal again until I get over 50mph. I can actually shift into neutral and turn it off and back on while decelerating and get normal performance out of it again.

You guys could try resetting the APPS sensor, try this:

- disconnect both batteries negative cables (let truck sit for 30mins with cables off)
- re-connect both neg cables
- turn key to "on" position -do not start
- depress accelerator pedal slowly all the way to the floor
- slowly let the pedal up
- turn the key to the "off" position

your APPS sensor should now be reset. Now you can start truck and take her for a run, see if this has cleared the problem. If not you may have to replace the sensor.

good luck!
