will 1997 transmission fit in a 2001 1500? help

Default will 1997 transmission fit in a 2001 1500? help

i have a bad transmission in my 2001 1500 i found a 97 will this transmission fit?
also it has a lift on the 97 will that also fit on the 2001? thanks for any help

the lift should be able to transfer over but not the transmission wont iirc. the 01's have differnt gov transducers and od soleniod sets

It will work if you do some parts swapping.

Different TCC and OD solenoids as well.

just pull the valve body out of the '01 take out the electrical parts and swap them over to the '97 trans. i wish i hadnt sold my '01 transmission, cause i put in a '98 trans and didnt know about the electrical part difference.

It can be done without removing the VB.

i thought one of the 3 parts was under the valve body, and required removal?

Theres this plate with a spring in that gets removed for access to the harness. I've done it 4 times in the last year.

ahhhh i see, i need to do this. i decided not to touch my motor other than the hughes plate, and im leaving the transmission alone. im going to get a mustnang gt come tax time instead.....

Don't forget the Gov switch needs to be for your year truck. The plug is different and the switch mounts to the Gov body differently. So you may need to Gov body too. I had all the transmissions in front of me, so I just swapped the body itself. The 2 styles are, one switch mounts from the outside with the solenoid bracket, and the other mount's with a clip internally.
