Default 1995 Dodge Ram 1500 overdrive problems

Hey everyone im new here and looking for some advice. I have a 1995 dodge ram 1500 5.2 v8 and 2wd. My tranny shifts fine but will not go into overdrive?? from what I have read on this forum it sounds like I need to replace the solenoid but I thought i'd post first and ask for opinions. Thanks in advance!

Not sure on the RH tranny, but I think anything to do with OD is in the tailshaft. I'd go to the FAQ section and download the service manual, at least you can check/trace the wires and make sure all is good there. It will also pin point any solenoids (lockup and OD) as to there location. if they are inside the pan, you can try replacing the solenoid assembly fairly easy.

And add ALL the info about your truck ,to your sig.

ok thanks will do! also i'm pretty sure its in the pan above the valve body. Is it hard to remove the valve body and not mess anything else up?

You actually don't have to remove the VB. After you take the pan off and look, you'll see what I mean.

How do you engage/disengae the OD on a 95? Is it on the shifter like it is on a 99? If so, I would check the switch. there is a page in the FSM that addresses this.
