Default 2003 4.7 Durango engine noise

Have had a "whining" noise from the engine upon cold starts. It goes away after the engine is warm and also appears to be getting worse. I replaced the idler and tensioner pulleys and the alternator with no help. I disconnected the belt to see if I could isolate the noise and it is not the water pump or power steering pump! The noise is coming from the right side bank (passenger side). It appears to be coming from the valve cover area towards the front of the bank. I can see no metal in the oil which is good. I have taken a video of it and am trying to get it transferred to YouTube. I will post it here as soon as I can. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I have 111k on the engine.

Whining is different from tapping or clanking.

However, if you know it is inside the valve cover that usually isn't a whine. Sooner rather than later, have it pulled and looked at. Sounds like a broken/breaking valve or worse.

Here is the youtube video of the noise. The serpetine belt is not connected so this is an internal noise. It does go away after a few miles as the engine warms.

That sir, is a TERRIBLE noise. I don't know what that could be but I would most definitely have the valve covers taken off and have the valves checked. It seems to be a high speed knock more than a whine.

What about the vibration dampener or torque converter?

I don't think so...the noise is coming from the front passenger side around the AC compressor and oil fill tube.

Idk, I think he would have noticed the timing. My uncle's did this..eventually it let go. Sadly, we never got to diagnose, or I'd be a help. Just do not run the thing. Gotta love these 4.7's.....I for one am I bigger fan of the 5.2.

The 5.2s were just as solid as the 4.7s but the only this is that the 4.7 is more efficient and makes what, 5hp more and 5 lb ft less? That's a good gain/sacrifice for a half liter.
