On my 96 ram 2500 4x4 with a Dana 60 front axle. What is the nut size for the axle. I just had the bearing go out on me and I'm 200 miles from home. Need to do a road side repair.
zman i found this on another site but is this the correct steps for the dana 60? Reason I ask is because a friend of mine has one that I will be helping him with. Thanks
FRONT wheel-bearing adjuster (inner)nut:
Step 1: To seat, torque nut to 50(lb-ft) while spinning hub.
Step 2: Back off, then torque to 35(lb-ft) for automatic hubs,or 50(lb-ft) for manual hubs.
Step 3: Back off 3/8-turn for automatic hubs, and just enough to free the bearing for manual hubs.
Front wheel bearing lock (outer) nut- 160 (lb-ft
Although it can't hurt to do that procedure (I think that's for a 2wd) All you need to do is install the hub. Tighten the 3 bolts to 125 foot pounds and the tighten the axle nut to 175 foot pounds.
Mine is a 4 bolt pattern. No torque wrench with me. But I have my own measurement of torque when it comes to bolts going that right. It's called goodandtightnow.

Thats usually the way I do it!!! but if its other peoples stuff I make sure and get it done correctly.
