Default Removing Coolant Overflow Tank?

I have a tiny crack in my coolant overflow tank, and I want to replace it. According to the FSM, I should be able to lift it straight up, and it should pop out of the fan shroud. It doesn't seem to want to come out, and I feel like I'm going to break it around where it fits into the shroud.

I'm not worried about breaking this one, since it's done anyway, but any tricks to taking it off?

It's a PITA. Look over the shroud and you'll see a "button" that you have to push. Yeah...it doesn't appear enough, but you do push it to allow the lifting of the bottle.

On mine, the top 'ears' that fit into the slots on the shroud, had to be pryed on slightly, to get them to come out.

On mine there is a sort of button as well and a corresponding hole in the shroud that the button fits into and locks the overflow tank in place. When im taking it off i just use a big screwdriver and wedge it between the shroud and tank at about the middle of the tank an i can usually pull it right out.

The button everyone mentions is the key. I have taken mine off twice with no tools just putting my fingers on the tank and thumbs on the shroud. Push the shroud in the right spot and pull outward on the tank to clear the button and it lifts right off. First time it took me a while and I was enjoying your same frustration until I leaned my head in there and saw what I was working against.

I'm definitely going to give it another go when I have the time. Probably not 'til the weekend. I appreciate the words of advice, and I'll definitely post back with results.

Default dodge overflow tank removal

hey guys if you need to remove your overflow tank remember to insert a flat screwdriver half way down and give a slight twist to the right this will release the button in the center and your tank will slide off without breaking the tank
