2006 Dakota Rear Drum Removal
I own a 2006 Dakota club cab, v6. I am having terrible problems with the brakes. The entire truck seems to shudder when I apply the brakes. I have changed the Front Rotors, Front brake pads, and also had Rear Drums Replaced. The shop did not replace the rear shoes, and I feel this may be the problem. I have been told I need special tool to pull the rear drums off. Can anyone help? Do I need anything special ??
Thanks,
Thanks,

A hammer!!!
I don't think there is a "special" tool. I have not done mine but i have never heard about a special tool for taking the drums out!

I barrowed a drum puller and it worked well. They where rusted on the hubs. Backing out the shoes will not make a difference but that is a normal procedure anyway. Do not bang them off that may cause damage to the axel bearings. Changing the rear brakes including the drums make a big difference in the shutter problem. The drums become out of round and run out is beyond correction.
