How do you remove the control arm bushings on a 2wd? I figured they would just tap right out but that doesnt seem to be working. Any tips?

 

It's a bit messy but you can burn them out... Maybe you need a bigger BFH....

 

It's a rubber bushing inside a steel can. (I think) Steel can needs to come out as well. They are pressed in.... rust up nicely, and become one with the control arm. Major pain to get out on an older truck. Especially one that lived in the rust belt.

 

Ill bang on it some more then locate a torch.

 

 

Drill most of the rubber out around the center part and push out the rest.
No flame necessary.

 

I managed to bang them out with a sledge after soaking them in wd-40. Now im having issues gettin the new ones pressed in. Any tips?

 

Have you looked at a manual?

 

Ill look at the fsm when i get home. I need to put in on a usb drive and go have it printed out. I didnt have any of these issues on my 1500 when i did it.

 

You can just buy a Haynes manual from the auto parts store. I keep mine in the toolbox. Also have the FSM downloaded on the home computer..
