RE: Difference between a sport??
The Sport includes some options that are otherwise either optional or not available on the base model. Even up to the SLT model (above Sport) there are really no mechanical changes it's all just trim and option differences. I have a brochure for 1997 at home and I'll post back with the exact changes. It ought to be similar to the 1998 model year.

RE: Difference between a sport??
LSD wasnt standard with sports, mine doenst have one. easiest way to check is look at the sticker in the glove box.
I thought Sport was above SLT...at least it was when i ordered my Ram.
Check here though. http://www.carsdirect.com/research/s...&year=1999
Check the specs section for each category for what was available, standard, or optional

RE: Difference between a sport??
At least in 1997, the Sport was the mid-line trim. That's pretty much SOP for Dodge. Even on the minivans, it was the same way. You had base/SE, Sport, then ES, EX, etc.
Looking through the brochure, the Sport added to the base model such things as standard cloth 40/20/40 bench, to replace the standard vinyl bench, standard carpeting where it was optional on base, standard tachometer gauges where it was optional on base, standard 15x7 aluminum wheels where they were optional on base, etc. The Sport did get the black/body color bumpers, and the body color grille. Interestingly, two tone paint was not available on Sport (at least not in '97). It was available on base and on SLT. I assume because of the mono-tone paint scheme with the bumpers, etc.
SLT added to Sport standard light/power package where it was optional in Sport, standard overhead console, standard power locks/windows, things like that.
