Default Dakota 4.7 vs Tundra 4.7 Question

alright so a buddy mine has been talking a lil smack lately about my dakota, saying his tundra can outrun me. i personally dont think he can. both are 4.7, both bone stock, except he has glasspacks out the back and i got flow 40s

he does give me the credit that my truck sounds 10 times better then has, so that one good thing. but I really do believe mine is faster then his.

and were going to 'race' this weekend. its about a 2 mile long road, that has absolutely no traffic (its a back road)

am i just getting a lil carried away or will i actaully be able to smoke him

Depends, if you have a QC and his is reg cab, he might get you. Just remember the Dodge 4.7 has most of its power around 4800 rpm's so keep it punched. The Tundra has a little more HP but at a higher rpm. You also have to factor in gearing, if you have 3.55's and he has 3.92's and you are both stock he will 0-60 better. If you really want to beat him then don't let up on the pedal. Let us know how it goes. (if he wins just tell him you let him )

I know my truck(98 5.2 4x4 cc) if you have it to the floor it will shift early into OD so I like to turn OD off until Im up until the right speed then turn OD back on.

I think hes got you... if it were reveresed, as in, him being the QC (double cab I think yota calls it) and you were the extended I would say you have him, but you probably don't weigh muchlless being a qc. You an auto? I think hes got you, but let us know, take a video, and don't be ashamed if you lose... it happens.

This may sound hoaky, but take the air resonator off and stick a filter straight on the throttle body. This will give a much greater air intake volume and cause the computer to push more fuel and might give you a little boost, plus it'll only take a few minutes to do. Is your truck a RC, CC or QC and what gearing? I agree make sure you disengage O/D until your at least at 65-70 mph.
