'00 4.7L 4x4 cold start & shifting issues

I have a 2000 4.7L 4x4 club cab and have noticed a few issues that may or may not actually be issues.

Upon start-up the engine seems to be more noisy than usual until it gets warmed-up. Then it goes back to its normal sound. Can't really tell what it is. Sounds like there is more air being moved under the hood. Like an extra fan is running, but it correlates to RPM. Thinking it may be the O2 sensor causing a rich A/F ratio until it warms-up. The engine is also more likely to surge when I let off of the gas. Ideas?

Also, there seems to be an issue with the 1-2 and 2-1 shift. When I am in first or second gear and full-throttle, the shift between 1 & 2 (both up-shift and down-shift) is especially jarring. It doesn't feel like a good solid shift, but rather a firm shift with something loose or springy that causes a vibration. Could it be a problem with the rearend? Maybe the pinion seal? Or maybe the rear shocks allowing the leaf springs to bounce around? Clutches in the transmission slipping?

that noise your hearing is probably the clutch fan they are pretty noising when you first start it especially after sitting for a while or in the cold

The noise you are most likey hearing is the fan I know when my truck has sat for awhile when its cold out if you start moving right after start up it sounds like a tank coming down the road but then after about a 1/2-1 mile it stops

Yeah it is def. a clutch fan you are hearing. This is common on trucks until it warms up for a couple minutes. Nothing wrong with it unless it is staying on for a long period of time. If you let the truck warm up for a couple minutes it usually doesn't happen.

And the 1-2 2-1 shift problem is so common on dodges its not even funny.

Okay. Thanks, everyone. So the noise issue is solved.

Now, I should have stated earlier that the 1-2 2-1 shift issue isn't really apparent except during full-throttle upshifts, full throttle downshifts, and (surprisingly) 1-2 upshift with no throttle. Why does this happen? Is it actually a problem? Is it going to hurt anything? Will it cause premature wear of the transmission or other driveline components? Can I fix it? Shift kit? Wtf?

i think there are bands or something you can get adjusted maybe get it rebuilt with a shift kit i don't know a whole lot about the auto's since i have a stick just what i've read on here maybe try searching through the old threads about autos on here
