Default 2000 Dakota question

I can't get a straight answer from anyone.
On a 6 cylinder is is possible to bypass the AC compressor pump with a serpentine belt for a non AC model?
My compressor is crapping out and I need a quick fix until I can get it fixed.
Will it have any adverse effect if I do?

It may work. But the compressor may be in the way of the belt. Another option is get a AC bypass pulley. This is the one for magnum engines. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/cat...archText=34178

Just so you know the heater system uses the AC to dry the air. This makes defogging your windows much faster.
