Im new to the forum so, go ez on me lol I had a few questions regarding the hemi swap.
I have a 2001 quad cab 4x4 4.7l with a manual trans.
1st question is, will i be able to pass smog in california?
2nd: will a hemi mount straight up to my manual trans? I really like keeping the manual aspect.
I see you can buy an engine/manual trans as a set out of a challenger/charger, but i wanna keep it 4x4. Maybe a jeep? Sorry if these questions have already been covered elsewhere. Thanks guys!

hemidak I have been following this thread for quite a while now doing my swap to a 2001 4x4 Dakota. ive got the engine in and driving but I cant get the transmission to shift out. I have a 5.7 from a 2003 ram that I dropped in. my question is do I need the tcm to make it shift out?
Did you get the ecm from the Ram donor truck ? If so it should be a single box instead of a split "ecm"-"tcm" like the 2001 came with. That's the one you should use.. I would get a 2004 if possible they're easier to tune and manage . Also , did you use the trans from the Dak- or the Hemi trans ? I need more info to be sure of the problem ..

I have a 1998 dakota 2.5 2wd. I bought the conversion kit for the hemi with the milidon oil pan. I am having a wiring harness built for the engine, however I am also putting the intake and front accessories from the challenger/charger onit. I think. currently rebuilding the 5.7 and looking for a good t56 to put behind it. Should be a rocket. any suggestions?

Hi all. I realize this thread has been dormant for over a year but I too have been following this thread and have decided to jump in on this swap with both feet. I have 2001 regular cab 4x4 Dakota with an ailing 4.7 coupled to the 45-rfe. I just picked up a 2005 Hemi Durango 4x4 that was modified by a fallen tree! Squashed it right across the back doors but it runs like new and still drives. I'll start my own thread once I start on it and keep you posted how I do. Hopefully HemiDak-Quad or some others that have gone the distance will be available for guidance.
