Default cost versus horsepower

I know there have prob. been numerous threads about mods for the 3.9L V6 but let me see if I can put a new spin on it. I have a 2000 with the 6 and so far I have a airaid intake with a catback dual exhaust. My question is this as far as money versus hp gains what is the most cost effective while giving me the most gains. I know I have alot of options but which is the best when it comes to hp versus cost.

Default RE: cost versus horsepower

trade it in on a v8.

Seriously, you're going to spend a couple of thousand bucks trying to make power from it, and when you're done you'll make about as much power as a stock v8. In order to make power you're going to need a new cam, definate work on the heads, intake manifold, exhaust, probably a fuel pressure regulator and pump, new injectors, get a chip burned, ignition (msd, etc.), and then what?
