What exactly would a throttle body spacer do and is it a worth-while addition??

spacer
The most common answer regarding a FI motor is it will do nothing. As I understand it they were designed to allow more complete fuel/air mixture before entering the cylinders on carb'd cars. Since the mixture takes place within the cylinders on FI vehicles they do not offer any better "mixture". The only thing they can do, and the performance impact is debatable, is improve the airflow characteristics as the air passes through the intake. FYI, I have one on my 3.9l that came out of a cash-for-clunkers at no cost to me - seemed to change the throttle response a little, but it might be in my head, and there was no dramatic performance improvement, verifying the common answer. I'm an engineer though - gotta test these theories myself...
Conclusion, I wouldn't purchase one expecting improvements in a fuel injected system.
Hope this helps.

Never been out of the 1st gen durango section, but saw this.
I called Airaid and asked about the throttle body spacers and the guy said this to me:
The throttle body spacer does not increase horsepower
It does not increase your 0-60 time
Nor will you see any change in time for your 1/4 mile
He said what it will do is increase your torque under 3000 rpm
the throttle body spacer increase torque on the low end for daily driving and to increase fuel economy.
This being said it is just an aluminum machined piece which swirls the air before it enters the throttle body.
So i dont think you need to spend 100+ dollars on one when you can order the helix power tower or a generic brand off ebay for half the price
