Default a guess at it

1 Bad oil wrong oil not changing oil

2 do you have high performance valve springs installed they can chew things up

3 someone F-ed you and dumped like brake fluid in the crank case I hear it will do this kind of damage it turns your oil into worthless garbage so no lubrication

4 just a poorly made cam not hardened correctly at factory

5 You are just a punisher of cars that means you drive hard play hard and push your engine to its MAX

6 It just happened a mystery

That looks like a major oil problem

Default You may need a compleat new engine

All that metal that came off was inside your engine and doing some damage I bet unless you are a lucky dog.

One other thing may be oil pump was weak and not getting oil to the cam or a pluged oil port.

I think you are in for a compleat engine overhaul looking at that damage.

What do your lifters look like they must be all chewed like the cam?

Post us some pics of the lifters.

the oil pump/distributor drive gear looks burned as well. I'm gonna go with 1 or 3 on Dakaz's post.

Default I bet you

If you pull the oil drain pan you will find all kinds of nasty metal chips down there.

Poor guy I wish him luck

The lifters are fine could have reused them. It holds good oil pressure just left of center when up to temp i think this happened to the owner before me and he/she cheaped out and just put lifers in

I did put new cam and lifters in.

i will post pics of the old lifers later.

No i do not run to the max all the time

Wink yea sounds about right

If the lifters were good then the last owner was the culprit but why only the lifters not the cam with it a cams not to expensive are they?

Make sure its pumping oil to the lifters and no oil passages are plugged.

Great hope everything works out for you please post new pic’s when done.

Great work

Default Lifters

Here are the lifters i did not look at them very good when i took them out three out of the four are bad and one is hard to see the mark. Before i did all this i had lifter tap. the tap is all gone.
the top right is what all the rest look like. The bottom right is the best out of the other two. It is all back together i did not think to take after pic
