Default 1999 Dakota 5.9 V8 tranny

I am a proud owner of a 1999 Dodge Dakota R/T 5.9L V8 engine. I just passed 100,000 miles about a month ago (it was off the road for a few years waiting for new headers) and my automatic transmission is starting to slip. If I shift into neutral and the back into drive it usually catches, but this is very annoying. I have been looking at a few local 1998 Dakotas with 5-speeds, and I have really been excited at the idea of having a manual in my truck. I guess what I'm asking is if a manual transmission off a 1998 3.9L V6 would bolt to my 1999 5.9L V8 engine? And if not, is there another manual transmission that would fit?

yes. I had a 98 sport with a 3.9, 5 speed and converted to a 5.2 as soon as I bought the truck. It will work and as far as i know you could even bolt it up to the 5.7 hemi
