Default Ridiculous Front End Hum

Hi guys,

Well the front end has developed a loud hum - most noticeably after installing my 3 inch lift. I'm pretty sure its coming from the driver side.

Since I installed new Tires back in December, went from pathetic P235/65R15 before to 31x10.5x15. They didn't align it for me because they said the bearing was done but I said leave it. Drove the truck for another 5 months before I jacked it up and noticed the hub did have only A LITTLE play.

I got a pretty cheap replacement hub for $50 (no abs) and fixed it myself and still never had the truck aligned.

My steering wheel is about 5-10 degrees off but I'm sure its from me installing that damn steering extension haha. The truck does pull to the right.

Would an alignment help me here, or am I looking towards the tires or hub AGAIN? I'm not noticing any uneven wear on my tires or anything and I know I need to get an alignment soon - speaking of which how much would it cost? Only around $50-$75 right?

Anyway,

Thanks!

Is it humming when it is moving only? Have you lifted the front of the truck and check for play in the wheels?

No I haven't jacked it up yet - I just replaced the hub so I was hoping that isnt the issue.

Still, I seem to notice it a lot more now despite having the tires for 8 or 9 months now.

50.00 for a hub is most likely a cheap brand check to make sure its not bad again. Does the hum change with speed or the way you turn?

Definitely with speed - I'm starting to think that it is the hub again. Hard to find cheap parts in Canada - sure I can find great deals in the states but the shipping/import taxes kill ya.

Gonna need to jack it up though and see if there is play.

You can have a noisy hub even without play.

Hopefully you do not need a new hub bearing, but if you do give these guys a look. I have bought several off them for different trucks and worked out good for me. I believe they are close to you.
