4.7 or 5.9?
Okay so I'm planning an engine swap for my poor 2000 Dakota SLT, it originally has a 4.7L that i blew, I've got a few grand saved up for the swap itself, but from where I've been looking on nvpicapart the same 4.7L (from a same year durango) is going for $1,300 with 106k on it while a 5.9L (from a same year ram 1500) going for $750 but it has 157k.
I would just like to get some opinions on which one you guys would pick up and why, I would also love any information on how difficult a 5.9 swap would be into the 4.7 dakota. Thanks!

Well, that would depend on what you plan to use the truck for. If your going to use it for a decent amount of hauling and/or towing then it might be worth your time to go with the 5.9L but, if your just using it as your daily ride to and from work then you would make out a little better with the 4.7L.

Yeah I assumed the transmissions would be different, definitely going with another 4.7 though since I don't want to mess with the PCM or any wiring if I can help it. I was only really looking at the 5.9 for hauling around my dirt bikes and my families boat, not exactly necessary though, thank you guys for the replies
