Default 4.7 o2 mystery

hello, im new here, got a 2000 dakota few weeks ago, 130,xxx miles, runs good shifts good but 60 miles after owning it check engine came on for p0141 & 0161 i know thats the heater circuit blah blah.

Did some research found out about the power steering fluid switch leaking into the harness, got an new one cleaned the plugg checked the o2 connectors didnt notice any fluid at quick glance. cleared the code and drove it about 30 miles no codes, passed inspection...

200 miles later i get a code 5 mins after letting my truck warm up on a 10 degree morning i get just the p0141 checked the power steering switch again and saw it to be a little wet but assumed it was left over from plug on the harness, cleaned it put some di-grease on it and cleared the codes. The next day(today) upon warming up the truck its 20 degrees out, i got a code for p0155 o2 heater circuit, cleaned the power steeering plug again, cleared the codes and stomped on the gas when i started it, NO CODE, drove around for about 15 miles no code... IM STUMPED, any input?!?!?

PS ive swapped the relays and checked the fuses as well.

Welcome to the forum CodyBob!

P0141 1/2 O2 sensor heater failure
P0155 2/1 O2 sensor heater failure
P0161 2/2 O2 sensor heater failure

Have you checked the connectors at the PCM too? I agree that it would be odd for three O2 sensors to all display the same failure.

They do share the same ground. G105. It's on the passenger side of the engine to the rear of the timing cover/thermostat location, near the camshaft position sensor.

thanx for the reply, i pulled one of the plugs to what i assumed was the pcm( multy plug control box on pass side engine bay, saw no fluid, ill have to check the ground better, i thought i saw one on pass side block visable through wheel well. i wiggled it and it was tight but pretty oily. I drove the truck today to work and didnt throw a code, i find its only throwing it when i let the truck warm up( was running late and jumped in and went today).

Why is it so hard to find locations for the grounds, i have searched google, bing, yahoo etc, just looking for a simple picture for the grounds, like i said im not familiar with v8s as this is my first one. Also if the ground was loose or shorting would it blow the fuse? Mine are fine...

Pull all 3 plugs on the PCM, yes on the passenger side. Disconnect the battery first.

You can download the factory manual here:

https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...s-manuals.html

It does have all the wiring diagrams and ground locations.

That's the location yes. No, a bad ground WILL NOT blow a fuse. Think of it more as an insulator - the circuit won't function or depending upon the severity, not function correctly.

Make sure it is clean and tight. Just rule out the obvious, it doesn't mean change the harness. Since the sensors all share this location it is a good place to start.

After that, pull the 3 connectors and check them.
