Default Motor swapping from 3.9 to 5.2

I am lookin to swap from a 3.9 to a 5.2. I have a 2000 dakota slt 4x4 with a 3.9 and I bought a parts truck which is a 1999 dakota sport 4x4 with a 5.2 and Id like to swap my 3.9 for the 5.2 with transmission and all, the parts truck did run by itself just had no title. I would love any input on this thanks!!!

I'm guessing that it shouldn't be a big deal. The 3.9 is only the 5.2 with the front chopped off so I'd guess that mounts and the like would be the same. I don't know if the rears are the same or if the 5.2 has a beefier diff. Same with the tranny. My suspicion is that the wiring harnesses are identical so whatever you need there should be a match. And I don't think there were any changes made from 99-00 so everything should be interchangeable. And actually changing the engine/tranny as a unit should be less work anyway. Radiators might also be different, but you could find that out easily enough by looking at replacement parts sources. If they have different numbers they are obviously not the same.

The engine/drivetrain should practically drop right in, but: there are changes re: front propeller shaft.

The front axle is different '99 to '00. Your '99 also has a steering box whereas the '00 has the rack and pinion.

Nothing insurmountable but you may have to do some searching for a front propeller shaft that fits.
