5.2 V8 Questions
Hey guys,
I'm finally seriously looking at engines for my Dakota. I found a 5.2 magnum (not LA) from a 96 that's in good shape with low miles... Anybody know if there's a difference between the 96 engine and a 97, 98 or 99? I researched but couldn't really find anything other than LA vs Magnum differences.
My next question is regarding emissions. I live in Illinois and my truck still needs to pass emissions for registration. All they do is plug in to the OBDII port and check for codes pretty much. If I hook everything up the way it is on my 3.9 and use the correct computer (02 5.9 since there's no 5.2 option), does anyone know if it'll pass emissions?
Like I said, all they do is check for mil codes and fail you if you've reset them and the sensors are still flashing from not being run long enough since resetting them.
