Default Hi all dakota owners

2001 dodge Dakota 3.9 SLT extended cab. Having problems with startup and idle. I have changed the fuel pump, TPS, IAC, Camshaft sensor, Crankshaft sensor, new plugs and wires, one minute it starts fine and runs great, then the next morning will not idle unless foot on gas, pulled the injectors no leaks
pulling my hair out on this one, suggestions please, and thank you!

Welcome to the forum.

Do you have any codes at any time? Do the key dance, you don't need a scanner.

With the truck not running, turn the key to RUN, then back to OFF, then RUN, back to OFF, finally leave it in RUN.

Codes will display in the odometer window. It'll say PDONE when finished.

Definitely check codes, but this sounds like an EGR sticking to me.

No codes, that's what is so frustrating. Since this whole thing started about a month ago. I put a new fuel pump on Wednesday and thought everything was good to go, but later that day back to the same, then yesterday I decided to check fuel pressure and no pressure at fuel rail unless its running with foot on gas back to zero when shut off. I mailed it back today, oh the truck has no egr, a evap system. I've been reading that it could be the o2 sensors, or a clogged cc or muffler, suggestions? Thanks for the input guys!

Correct, there is no EGR on an '01.

You should have fuel pressure on the rail as soon as you turn the key to ON. Once you shut the truck down it should hold pressure for a while too.

What are you getting for readings on the fuel pressure?

Yea the new fuel pump was a dud, key on no pressure bad regulator I assume. I put the old one back on and the pressure was 42psi and still the same problem, hard start no idle, unless foot on pedal, should be 49psi +- 2psi. Not sure if its the pcm, getting +5 at all sensors, new fuel pump should be here in a few days so, search and destroy. Timing maybe. thanks for the time dan

Low fuel pressure will cause problems.

Does it hold the pressure at all after shutdown? It should not immediately drop. If it does you likely have a leaking injector(s).

I pulled the injectors first thing when this all started and no leaks, my new fuel pump should be here early next week and I will start the troubleshooting problem all over again, love the truck but its driving me nuts

You may have mentioned it, the pickup coil (under rotor button), which might be cam or crank sensor created a hell of a misfire on mine.
