Default Emergency brake cable

How does the emerg brake cable stay attached to the lever on the back of the disc backing plate?
There's a spring with washer I think.

These are disc brakes? Year of truck? If I recall correctly (it's been a while), you will release the tension by loosening the tension adjuster further up where the cables converge at the "Y". I may be wrong...it's been a while. It's either that, or once you disassemble the shoes, it releases the tension on the brake cable and allows the hook to pivot out.

Default E Brake

Its an 03, 4.7 4x4.
Disc brakes in rear.
I am wondering how the cable connects to the lever behind the backing plate. The cable has a tension spring and a slotted end connector that fits on the lever, but what holds it?

Default Brake

Could someone take a pic of the back of the backing plate where the E brake cable connects to the lever. Thanks
