2004 dodge durango 4.7 Ticking Noise when started up
#41
I just fixed mine a couple weeks ago. I bought 8 new bolts and I even bought 2 bolts for the connection for the Y-pipe for a total of I think $37 from the dealership. My step-dad did most of the work but it seemed pretty easy. Went through the wheel well but didn't take off the plastic cover. He took the manifold off in about 10 mins and putting it back on took a little longer just because of trying to line everything up and put all the bolts back in.

My last D was an '04 with a 5.7, 160k, and 2 passenger side rear studs were broke when we bought it.
Fortunately, the dealer we bought it from paid to have it fixed ($350-ish), and we put on another 60k without any issues... until it got totalled-off.
We've had this '07 for a little less than a year, it's got 130k on it, and this weekend I heard the 1st little tick-tick-tick-tick when I drove it to the carwash.
Came home, and told my wife that it sounded like the whole exhaust system was leaking, and I'd price out a aftermarket system. You know:
"It'll be way cheaper than replacing the factory exhaust.. and we'll get better MPG too!"
That was an easy sell.
Time to shop for an aftermarket system I can install myself.. and I'll plan on spending an extra 3 or 4 hours to fix the broken stud at the same time.

Just had this hapapen to me late last week to my 05 4.7l Durango. Took it to the dealer yesterday and they quoted me $600 to do just the drivers side. But after talking to the service manager he called Dodge and they covered it under the 7/70 for the $100 deductable.
It pays to be persistant with the service writers!
