Default Passenger side airbag question

I have a question regarding the passenger side airbag of my 2008 Dodge Durango. I have read the manual and did an online search and cannot find any information regarding the weight limit on the passenger side airbag sensor. Does any know the specific weight limit that allows the airbag to be off based on that weight? Also is there some sort of sensor or indicator light that shows me whether it is on or off? Is there an on/off switch where I can disable the passenger side airbag if there is not in fact a sensor? I just bought the vehicle three days ago and explained to the dealer (crook) that I was needed to be able to turn that airbag off as my child would have to ride up front. I was given no real definitive answer, other then there was a sensor and it was based on weight, but no weight amount was given. Please help.

My dog weighs 100 pounds and the seatbelt warning does not chime. I do not know if this also for the airbag or if it is because his back does not hit the back of the seat, only the bottom of the seat itself. Is there a Dodge dealer that you can call besides the one that you bought this 2008 Durango?

IIRC, it is 10 pounds.

Kids should ride in center seats, not the front. See owners manual page 55:

Children 12 years and under should always ride
buckled up in a rear seat in an appropriate child restraint.

Infants in rear-facing child restraints should NEVER ride
in the front seat of a vehicle with a passenger front airbag.
An airbag deployment can cause severe injury or death to
infants in that position.

If the airbag system in this vehicle needs to be
modified to accommodate a disabled person, contact the
Customer Center.

Also, there is no pass side AirBag on/off switch like on other cars for your 2008.

I know the warning, but I have other children. I also know there is no on/off switch, but there is a seat sensor that is based on weight that turns it off and on

Does your Durango not have a third row seat?

FF, all Gen2s have 3rd row seating. It is a matter of convenience over safety often when folks prefer to use the front seat verses the rears.

I quess my question was rhetorical. What I was getting at is it is a pain in the *** for the kids to get in the third row, especially if you have kids seat in the second row. My oldest (4) has to climb around the bucket seats or through the back hatch. I would never place her in the front seat unless she was old enough. We take my wife's Suburban if all three have to get in for a ride. This does not help Tammy206, but your childs safety should be paramont over comfort,
