Ram:

Is this rig a 4x4 for that price???

Sounds pretty decent to me if it is. 31k miles is pretty low for an 05. What is the build date??? My guess is that the bumper to bumper 3/36 has or is about to expire. The 05 models came with a 7/70 power train warranty as well. You would have to be the second owner to make use of it.

If you pull the trigger, make sure to have it xferred into your name. They may want the $150 fee, but if so that is still a good deal.

I sure wish I could get my wife to buy me a Hemi Charger........

You can tell your wife (after Xmas) that I said she's a lucky woman!!!

i always had dodge but never this 4.7L and never a suv . what are some things that tend to go bad on a suv like this with the 4.7

Ram:

Not real sure what a good place to start price wise would be. I can say that I wish the market would have been what it is now when I bought my 01 with 25k back in 2003. At that time, I gave 19k for it, and from what I researched, that was a decent price.

The 4.7 motor has been around since 00 in the D, and 99 in the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
As long as you keep the recommended maintenance up, you should be good to go.

Since the 4.7 has no plug wires or distributor there is less upkeep.

If you tow a lot, it would behoove you to find one with the 3.92 gears as opposed to the standard 3.55 gears. We find that although the 4.7 motor was a great step forward in many ways, it does not quite have the torque of the 5.9 motor. A little shorter final drive gear helps make that issue more of a non issue.

Personally, 12K is a little steep... I got my 04 with 36K on it 2 years ago and got it for 11300. Its a 4.7 V8 With Tow Package but its not an SLT and doesnt have third seat.

I did recently (2months ago) see an 05 with 36k going for 10999 (SLT with third seat)... so you have plenty of bargining room... but they (SUV prices) may be moving back up with the price of gas the way it is... :-)

hey thanks guys for all the input.
i didnt buy the 05 because i found a 08 flex fule durango slt limited 4x4 with only 20k and it had a sunroof they were asking 16999 for it i told them i would give them 15500 for it and they are going to call me back. i thaught why not shoot them a low price . we will see . dont know much about the flex fuel thing but it seems allot of suv's are going that route.

RaM:

The flex fuel is nice to have, but IMO it is not a deal maker. The E85 network is rather weak to nonexistant in some areas. The D will run on it just fine, but your mpg will drop negating any offset of the lower cost per gallon.

On that 08, if it has the 4.7 motor, that would be the Gen 2 version of the 4.7 with 300hp. Kind of puts it pretty close to the same ball park as the Gen 1 Hemi at 335hp.

The 2nd gen Hemi is up to 370hp
