Default dodge key fob issues: repaired!! $40

I can repair your key fob if the contacts have broken from the circuit board for a small fee.
About six months ago my first key fob falied, I asked the dealer to replace during an oil change but they said it wasn't covered. I know that wasn't correct but I didn't agrue with them because I was in a hurry besides I still had my second key. When the second key failed I was just out of warranty. So I opened up my key to see what was going on. Both had loose battery contacts on the circuit board. I thought it was interesting that both my keys had failed? So I asked the google gods how to fix it. The following link gave me guidance on repairing the fob: http://www.techonline.com/product/un...0601064?pgno=2

After reading the article I was sketch on repairing it myself, due to the fact if I made mistake it was going to cost $179 for a new key plus having it programmed. So I consulted a fellow electronics technician and asked him to solder the contacts. Since, we have done several repairs with %100 success. Now I am branching out and offering these services. If you are interested in this repair, contact me via email bshenlen@mac.com. The fee is $40 w/ free return shipping. So you basically pay $35

Default Dealer repairs

If you are lucky the dealer may repair them. Mine told me they wouldn't even replace it under warranty. I switched to a new dealer and when I told them the issue the gave me a quote for a new key. If you need a key please reply.

Cool RKE Key Fob Issue

I have had similiar issues with my RKE Fobs. I replaced the battery and found that the battery holder was not holding the battery. I had this repaired and replaced ther battery. The system worked OK on one key for a short time and then if the key was within 20 feet of the vehicle the horn would beep and the locks would engage. This would continue until I moved the key further into my house. Sometimes the remote unlock function works but the remote lock function does not. At this point I have to unlock the door with the key, alarm goes off and then I have to put the key in and turn it to stop the alarm. Any suggestions? Anyway to disarm the alsarm function?

you can always install an aftermarket alarm. crimestopper, viper and compustar are the systems i use and they have a factory alarm disarm and arm wire that you can have installed. but it depends on what kind of key you have do you have a black case key ,or the grey case. if you have the grey case you will need it if you want to install a remote start..

2004 Durango- Now my key fob doesn't work suddenly as of two nights ago. It did exhibit some warning signs of inoperation at times for the past month, but i thought a new battery change would fix it. Well it didn't. Now I have two key fobs that don't work. I looked closely at the connections inside and they look okay. Could it be a malfunction somwhere inside the vehicle instead?

Just had the same thing happen: Finally the unlock will not work. Can see one of the legs that hold the battery in place has come loose from the circuit board. Now I hear this is common??? what a crappy design. Please. They should definitely stand behind them. Can't believe it. I'd like to trust Helen but see she just joined when she made her first post here and doesn't have any profile info filled in. Call my paranoid but thats a good way to send your key and code to a stranger for your car. I don't think I'm that trusting. I'll check with my deaker and then someone who repairs electronics. BTW, This is on a 2005 Durango.

Default Key Programing Tips?

Greetings,
I bought a 07 Durango 8 months ago and only got one key from the dealer. A few months ago I bought a new key for $69 on e-bay and got it cut. tried it and the engine only ran for a few seconds. We'll looking at the manual i discovered why ...... I am new to this security system thing... So the manual details a procedure to program a third key, well I am missign the second and only have the one. Does any one know of a short cut, or method to program a second key such is not mentioned in the manual? Or do I have to go the hard route and visit a dealer?
Please and Thank you.
