Default rear hatch unlock problem

My wife has a 2004 Durango the rear hatch will not unlock with interior switch or remote switch . As much as I love Dodge for some reason they saw no need to put a key lock on the rear hatch does anyone have any ideas how to get this hatch opened any help would be appreciated.

No key because no one uses them. 1998-2003 all had key cylinders but I can't tell you when the last time it was used on my 2000 (it doesn't work but that's another story.) Most folks use the remote and only the remote... just as you used to do too most likely. Most other automakers have gotten away from rear lock cylinders as well.

With all that said, check your fuses.

Mien is remote operated, also. It can be unlocked with the doors (inside buttons) and manually opened,
