Tranny cooler pictures/install info.
Hello, I just bought a 2005 Dodge Dakota, yes I know this is the Durango forum, I'll get to that.
So the Dak needs a tranny a rad, because the tranny cooler in the rad blew up.
So I want to bypass the tranny cooler in the rad completly, to make sure this doesn't happen again. I was just going to pick up an aftermarket tranny cooler...
While at the wreckers today picking up my tranny, I also picked up a tranny cooler from a 2005 or 2006 Durango. It was just sitting inside on the floor, and the guy that works there, said that it was the tranny cooler, it looks the part, so I have no reason to doubt him.
Now, what I've been trying to do is find pictures of how this was installed in the Durango, so that I can hopefully install it the same way in my Dakota. I don't see how it would attach to my Dakota. Are there extra mounts that are attached to the rad support?
I know this post must make me sound new to cars, but really I'm not, I've just not owned a Dodge before, and never paid attantion to the tranny coolers when ever I've worked on these, as an Automotive Electronic Accessory Technician (used to be anyway), in other words, I install remote starters and security systems. LOL
Thanks.

Ok, honestly that was not helpful at all.
I know that tranny coolers are installed in front of the rad, I've installed several aftermarket coolers over the years....
What I am trying to find out is HOW the factory cooler was installed, in other words actually attached to the vehicle.
After looking at my truck a little closer yesterday I am convinced I am missing mounting brackets, and that maybe even the rad support is different between the Dakota and the Durango.
I'll probably just end up using an aftermarket tranny cooler.

You wouldn't happen to have any pictures of one of these installed would you?
Like I said in my OP, I have looked but haven't found any pictures.
