Durango with P0456 code

Folks:
The pics below show what I found when I got the tank out from under the D.
You will see that the locking ring is a rusted mess. The wetness is from bathing that ring in WD40 and PB Blaster in hopes of avoiding damage to the teeth on the ring moulded into the tank.
The was nothing electrically or mechanically wrong with the pump. The EVAP system however did not care for the minor leak(s) caused by the damage by the rust.
I want to say that I was very happy with the service I received from Bobby at factorymoparpats.com in Florida.
Bobby hooked me up with an new OEM pump assembly for $195 after shipping and a core return credit of $40.

Don,
I thought mine was in bad shape but yours was a critical state. I just got back of a 700 miles trip and she handle like a dream I was towing a 3K pound camper and my fuel AVG was 17.4 MPG. No far I have defeat the CEL I’m certain that I have cured the P0456 code. Let me know how yours is doing. I do agree that MOPAR could do a better job at the top flange of the pump and have a plated metal flange instead of plastic. Also a raised mount would prevent water from lodging around and corrode the lock ring. Thanks for the web site I’ll keep that one in my tool box.
John
